SUGGESTED READING Le Griffon d’Arrêt à Poil Dur Korthals; by Jean Castaing. A French book available from the French Club. The book is considered the Bible for the breed for historical information. It also explains the conformation of the breed.. Livre De L'Éleveur Griffonnier; by Club Français Du Griffon d’Arrêt à Poil Dur Korthals. (A French book available from the French Club, detailing the French field tests. This book has detailed pictures and pedigrees on French winners in conformation and the field. Le Korthals Et les Autres Griffons by André Harmand, Published by: Editions De vecchi S.A. 20, rue de la Trémoille 75008 Paris. ( a French book very well done on the WPG) A Celebration of Rare breeds Vol II by Cathy Flamholtz Published by OTR Publications, P.O. Box 481, Centerville AL 35042. (This book offers an excellent description of the breed in its one chapter coverage) The Truth About Sporting Dogs by C. Bede Maxwell, Published by Howell Book House 1972 (Bede Maxwell was a rare jewel among the sporting dog crowd, she devoted a chapter to this rare breed with some excellent photos)
EXCELLENT RESOURCES FOR ALL BREEDS The New Dog steps by Rachel Page Elliott Published by Howell Book House, 230 Park Ave. , New York, NY 10169. (A better understand of a dogs gait is the point of this book) The Encyclopedia of Dogs by Fiorenzo Fiorone, Published by Thomas Y. Crowell Co. 1970 (This by far is my favorite book. Originally published in Italy, the full color photos and explanation of breeds is excellent.) Tracking Dog - Theory & Methods by Glen R. Johnson, Published by Arner Publications 1977 (Anyone working with a hunting dog should read this book. It gives detailed information on nose work.) Canine Terminology by Harold R. Spira, Published by Howell Book House, Inc. 230 Park Ave. New York, NY 10169 (Too often confusion arises from incorrect description of the dogs anatomy. This book puts it all together with correct terms.) |
